Job Title: Pack Line Worker – Entry-level

Reports to: Pack Line Supervisor
Summary of duties and responsibilities:
Ridgeview Pack, LLC employees perform all tasks involved in the production of Matthews Ridgeview Farms’ sweet potato packing and distribution. This includes grading, sorting, and packaging sweet potatoes. Follow standard work methods and practice safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible. Follow all standard food safety methods and practices to ensure product is handled in clean and safe manner.
Primary duties and responsibilities:

Remove sprouts and/or strings from sweet potatoes as they move along the pack line.

Sort sweet potatoes according to customers’ specifications by removing rotten, damaged and out-of-specification sweet potatoes from pack line.

Fold and stack cardboard and/or reusable plastic containers.

Maintain a clean and safe work area.

Notify supervisor of any mechanical or material issues.

Notify supervisor of any safety and/or food safety violations.

Clean work area after work assignments are completed.

Perform other related duties and assignments as required.

All production workers are expected to be available to work in all areas of production.

Education, prior work experience and specialized skills and knowledge:
The position does not require prior experience.
Physical environment/working conditions:
The position is in the factory and could involve standing, walking, and lifting for long periods of time throughout the day. The packhouse is temperature controlled throughout the year creating a comfortable cool working environment.
Equipment and machinery used:
Conveyor belts, cardboard boxes, reusable plastic containers, and other materials necessary to the production and packaging of Matthews Ridgeview Farms’ products.
Entry Rate of Pay: $12.00/hour (40+ hours paid 1.5x regular hourly wage)
